Dear Secondary Parents,
Hello to each of you from the Wellspring Academy! We hope you are doing well amidst this rainy time in Kigali. Things here at the school are going well. God is continually working at this place. You might not know it, but all staff members engage in devotions together each and every day at Wellspring. We not only want for our students to grow spiritually, but we take our own spiritual growth seriously also.
I have a few very important issues to bring to your attention for your secondary child:
1. BEHAVIOR: Our secondary students are beginning to show minor signs of misbehavior. MANY students are not coming to school dressed in their appropriate uniform attire. Teachers are going to be focusing more seriously and consistently on misbehaviors. I will also be addressing these problems. We will begin documenting students who are out of uniform and those that consistently misbehave. Thank you for your help in this matter. Please help guarantee that your child leaves home wearing their proper uniform.
2. S3 NATIONAL EXAMS: Please remember that your child, if he or she is in S2, is only one year away from sitting for their O-Level Exams. With this in mind, all students need to be coming to class each day, coming on time, and coming prepared (having finished homework, coming with materials, etc.). Thank you!
3. TEXTBOOKS: Many of you have not yet purchased textbooks for your child. Your child having textbooks is not optional. They MUST have them. The school will be telephoning those parents who have not yet purchased them for their child. Remember that the cost for these books is 70,000 Frw. Money can either be brought to the school or paid to one of our bank accounts (bring your payment slip to the school).
4. LIFE GROUP: There are a number of Wellspring secondary students who attend a Bible study for youth at CLA. This study is called Life Group. It takes place on Wednesdays from 2:00 to 4:00. This is not a school event but is organized by the church. Please direct your questions to Pastor David @ 0786065555.
5. SECONDARY BASKETBALL: Basketball will be starting up soon for our S1 and S2 students. It will be available for both girls and boys. We have a couple of coaches and will hopefully begin scheduling games soon. For now, practice will be happening on TUESDAYS and THURSDAYS for boys and girls together. Practice will take place between 4:00 and 5:15. Students need to come with proper sports clothes (does not need to be sports uniform) to change into. If you would like for your child to participate then please fill out the attached form and return it to the school by Friday of this week. Practice will begin next Tuesday (May 22nd). Thank you! We are excited to begin! J Football will be beginning in the future also.
6. AMARABA: There are some secondary students who have been staying behind on Friday afternoons from 4:00 to 5:00 for Amaraba dance practice. This group of students occasionally puts on performances for school visitors and at other school events. Please fill out the attached form if you want your child to participate or to continue to participate in Amaraba. Thank you!
