As Wellspring Academy prepares to welcome students for the 2026–2027 academic year, staff members have strengthened their skills in conflict resolution, mediation, and workplace harmony through a two-day professional development training.
In partnership with the African Peace and Prosperity Institute (APPI) and Wellspring Academy, the training brought together all staff for practical learning and reflection on how to manage conflicts constructively and foster a healthy, collaborative workplace. The training was facilitated by Dr. Will Mugenzi, who guided staff through key principles and approaches to conflict resolution and mediation.
The training comes at an important time as the school begins a new academic year, providing staff with practical tools to navigate disagreements, communicate effectively, manage challenging situations, and strengthen relationships within the school community.
Through practical scenarios, staff learned how to navigate and resolve conflicts constructively.
Beyond resolving conflicts when they arise, the training emphasized the importance of creating an environment where respect, understanding, empathy, collaboration, and open communication can thrive. These skills are essential in a school environment where staff work closely with one another, students, and families every day.
