On Friday, May 8, 2026, Wellspring Academy joined the nation for the 32nd commemoration of the 1994 Genocide Against Tutsi.

As part of the school’s commitment to raising informed and responsible global citizens, students participated in a meaningful session dedicated to remembering the victims, reflecting on Rwanda’s history, and understanding the importance of ensuring that genocide never happens again.

Through guided discussions, students learned about the devastating impact of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, while also exploring the values that have shaped Rwanda’s remarkable journey of healing and rebuilding; unity, resilience, and shared responsibility.

Through dialogue and reflection, our students learnt the importance of remembering Rwanda’s history and committing to a future free from division and hatred.

Students were reminded that they are not only learners, but also the future leaders and guardians of Rwanda’s peace. They were encouraged to uphold the values of humanity, compassion, and accountability, and to play an active role in building a future free from hatred and division.

At Wellspring Academy, we believe that educating young people about history is essential to shaping a more peaceful and united tomorrow.
